Do MP3 files or MPEG files have viruses, spyware, or adware?

If you download mp3s or mpegs from Limewire or wherever, can you get viruses, spyware, or adware from the mp3s? Or if I copied some mp3 files from my friend, could i get a virus? Thanks a bunch.

Not exactly.. they may be disguised as audio/video files, but you can't get a virus from a song. That's like saying you can get a virus from a picture that loads without you wanting it to. (Like someone's avatar, you can't get a viruse from it)

Like in an e-mail - someone may ''pretend'' to send you pictures, when in reality it's a virus. No pictures.

Of course. In these days internet are full of all kind crap.
you can, you can get a virus from anything but if you have a virus protector as soon as you download the file it will show it as a virus. I have limewire and use limewire.....also anything that the file size is 371.5 or the file size has a weird number to it...it's a virus. Here is a really good virus protector that i just love......

Go to www.download.com and type in AVAST
not that i am aware of and trust i know alot about viruses LOL u can always scan them before playing them
It is POSSIBLE to embed virusse and trojans in the metadata associated with MP3's and MPEG's I don't suspect it happens too often. What you must be careful with is Limewire, because it is a service that is often exploited by web terrorist seeking to propagate viruses, spyware, or adware.

Whether you have viruses, spyware, or adware or not, please please please download and run Adaware SE Personal, Spybot Search and Destroy, and a reliable Antivirus and Internet Security program.
Yes you can but if you have an antivirus program it should alert you about the virus
