Virii do not have DNA of their own. They are strings of RNA that take over the reproductive elements of a cell and cause the cell to produce more virii till it dies.

The problem is not virii, it is the definition of life. There is no absolute line between Alive and Not-Alive.

The simplest definition of life is:

Any self replicating chemical system capable of undergoing Darwinian evolution.

Most viruses DO have DNA. The RNA viruses are a small minority Report It

virus has DNA! however, they have to attack a LIVING CELL in order to pass on their DNA information and duplicate itself. Many consider virus are dead because they cannot do not have what a cell requires such as cell wall, complete RNA system which can duplicate or multiple on its own.
They do not have DNA
