Aim can never give you a virus. It's your buddies profiles that may give you viruses. Never click on those BS links that are on those profiles. Sometimes automated messages are sent to you from your buddies and if you click on the link they send you, you'll get a worm and then all your buddies on your buddy list will receive this message to that same link and it continues and continues until there is no way of finding out who and where and how it started.
