Hi, I play an online game called VMK. There is a very cool network called ''VMK Pal'' It is very fun t use, but my computer recently was fixed. I don't know what gave it viruses. Could yo tell me if VMK Pal causes it, and also what other common websites.?

no it doesnt cause any type of virus. i use vmkpal all the time! and my computer doesnt get any lag..doesnt slow down any of programs open on the desktop..nothing...its just the same as using regular vmk on the internet

Downloading things from the internet can be dangerous, since many of these games contain viruses, spyware, ect... My advice is to clean up your computer and delete things you no longer use. If you download VMK Pal again and you notice your computer is slower, then the game might be the problem. Hope this helps!

Averagely 8 viruses a day are created most in Europe. Most die out fairly quickly. Most of the attacks are against Microsoft. It used to be most viruses were made to gum up Microsoft and its programs. They used to be created by mostly mac and unix people that hate Microsoft. Now days the threats seem to be more centered around stealing privacy information, identity. Adware and Spyware are key in introducing Trojan viruses so forth.

Microsoft with the new Vista operating system will be much more like macs in that it will no longer be an open operating system. It will require permission for things to be installed so forth. Service pack 2 for XP has a number of things that Microsoft was going to introduce in Vista but put in that service pack due to public pressure for better security.

Yesterday my pc with vista got infected with 6 trojans and viruses?

My avg detected them, and I downloaded other antiviruses and trojans and detected them also, but when I removed them it appeared again seems they were spreading into other files.

I disabled system restore as someone said, if you deleted the virus it could come again because is hidden in system restore, still sign of viruses and trojans. I went on Safe Mode, scanned it, and AVG didnt detected anything and the other programs didnt work, I restarted the pc, and the screen got balck and froze.

I decided to put my pc back to factory settings because is a dell, and reinstall vista using that feature before I lost my pc.

Where do I learn more about how to remove viruses?

I do virus/spyware removal, mostly for friends, and friends of friends. I keep trying to learn more, but I really need some more resources. Any ideas? Are there any really good books out there on virus removal? The ''Viruses for Dummies'' book is too basic, I need something more advanced.

With my experience doing this for friends and family I try to always rebuild the PC. YOu can never be completely sure everything is gone unless you re-install the operating system. I usually save their files to an external hard drive, rebuild the computer and throw files back on. It can take MUCH less time then running all the spyware/adware/virus removers.

I havent found any books on the subject . Hope that helps a little.

What you want to do is NOT use the Internet Explorer. Download and install Firefox. Also use Thunderbird for emails. If he does not have one, install a good firewall software and antivirus like Comodo Firewall, Comodo Antivirus, AVG Antivirus or Zone Alarm Firewall. Firstly, try avast! 4 Home Edition's boot scan to make sure there's a virus unable to be removed because the os is loaded. Secondly, try another spyware scan such as Windows Defender (not worth it) and Spyware Terminator. If nothing is detected, then try the following things:

- Defrag your computer using Disk Defragmenter in System Tools (Or Diskeeper 2008)

- Use System Restore to take your system back to BEFORE you had the virus.

- Use CCleaner to delete all the junk files (Like Temp. Internet Files) and clean your registry. (Warning: Not for the faint of heart)

- Uninstall your unneeded/unwanted programs.

- Go to Start %26gt; Run %26gt; and type ''msconfig'' and manage your startup.

- Take a look at your hardware and Virtual Memory. Your hard drive could be having problems. You may not have enough RAM or Virtual Memory. Your CPU could be underpowered. Upgrading hardware can help (upgraded 128 MB to 1 GB, SO much faster)

First thing yes the limewire peer to peer download site is a virus and spyware happy place. Don't use it. Pay for your music and you will have no problems, or if you hate that response then buy a Good anti virus program. The AVG free program sux. For the people that use it and say they have never had a problem is because the program doesn't pick up on the viruses you do have. I scanned a thumb drive that I knew had a virus on it and the program completely missed it. Unfortunately, no matter what program you ever use to download anything, will still present the risk of bringing an infected file onto your computer.

All you can do is try to decrease that risk. For PCs, for example, LimeWire enables users to scan every downloaded file using your own Anti-Virus program. I have my LimeWire set up to scan every file with Norton before saving it to my disk. I have never received a single virus from LimeWire in the 3 years I've had it.

For Macs, I know everyone brags that they are practically invincible, but they are still able to contract viruses no matter what someone tells you. They are much more secure than a PC, but they are still slightly at risk.

LimeWire is a very trust-worthy program in my personal opinion. It does indeed try to screen out any harmful files and only present you with quality, safe files. There will always be a risk, but I believe LimeWire significantly decreases that risk.

now what you can do to prevent viruses is to know what to look for. for example, the newest hip hop song that hasn't even come out on cd, if you see that on p2p sites, make sure the size matches the file. for example, a song isn't going to be 851kb, a song is going to be 2-10mb. that k and m make a big difference.

also you shouldn't have to unzip an audio file unless it is batched with others. mp3's are about as compressed as they get. and when you do unzip something from an audio file, DON'T RUN ANYTHING.

I suggest you download Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S%26D (they鈥檙e free), install them, update them and run them. You need to reformat your pc because of the number of virus/malware in your pc and your anti-virus can't defeat them.
to add to what as others have posted , Put the XP recovery CD in the primary drive and reboot . When the prompt comes up boot from CD push the key as indicated and do so. When it says delete partition do so and you should be on your way to formatting. Just follow the prompts. A complete format will get rid of the viruses and a lot of other crap. I like to do it every six months or so.

If you have an original restore disk you can do this yourself. Just pop in the disk, and follow instructions. Also you may have a restore partition on your hard drive that you would access by hitting some key at boot.

Limewire is 99% safe as long as you don't download any games or software. If you are just using Limewire for downloading music, videos, and documents then you will be fine. Limewire does not install any spyware or adware like Kazza does. You should have a good antivirus/spyware scanner in the rare event that you do get a virus from downloading something on Limewire. You should also have a good firewall program too. Having a antivirus/spyware and a firewall is common sense, you should have it installed even if you don't have limewire.
