Hi, I play an online game called VMK. There is a very cool network called ''VMK Pal'' It is very fun t use, but my computer recently was fixed. I don't know what gave it viruses. Could yo tell me if VMK Pal causes it, and also what other common websites.?

no it doesnt cause any type of virus. i use vmkpal all the time! and my computer doesnt get any lag..doesnt slow down any of programs open on the desktop..nothing...its just the same as using regular vmk on the internet

Downloading things from the internet can be dangerous, since many of these games contain viruses, spyware, ect... My advice is to clean up your computer and delete things you no longer use. If you download VMK Pal again and you notice your computer is slower, then the game might be the problem. Hope this helps!

Averagely 8 viruses a day are created most in Europe. Most die out fairly quickly. Most of the attacks are against Microsoft. It used to be most viruses were made to gum up Microsoft and its programs. They used to be created by mostly mac and unix people that hate Microsoft. Now days the threats seem to be more centered around stealing privacy information, identity. Adware and Spyware are key in introducing Trojan viruses so forth.

Microsoft with the new Vista operating system will be much more like macs in that it will no longer be an open operating system. It will require permission for things to be installed so forth. Service pack 2 for XP has a number of things that Microsoft was going to introduce in Vista but put in that service pack due to public pressure for better security.

Limewire is free, but illegal, and while the program isn't a virus, what ever you download could give you a virus or spyware. Had to reinstall windows once, because of that. So download it at your own risk.

Never had a virus problem with Bearshare downloading mp3's or pictures. Some when downloading programs, but that you'll get with anything. Be it a torrent, Limewire or whatever else

sometimes it just depends on what you download, I have had no problems but if you download software it may contain cracks and many antivirus programmes identify these as viruses because they make wide changes to the installed software ( make it a full version not crappy trialware)

YES. As someone said, it ALL depends on which site you get it from. utorrent is nice and offers sites that are safe to look for torrents. You shouldn't use anything else. And IF you ever do get one from a trusted site doesn't mean it can't be infected. So scan it at Jotti.org or Virustotal.com

If you use public trackers and download software.. Then normally they contain some sort of backdoor.. Usually .WMV files are also virus ridden... Start looking into some private trackers

It all depends on the site you get stuff from. Proffessonal sites definantly wont, while some seedier sites that have their content illegaly probaly will. Watch out!

Why is it that in our day and age we are still unable to find cures for viruses, such as HPV, HSV, or HIV? What research is being done to find a cure? I have been looking online and it seems that most research is focusing on treatment, not finding a cure. Are we somewhat close to finding the first virus cure or are we still miles off? Because there is more money in treatments then there is in a cure. You think the makers of Tylenol want to be out of business? I'm sure the stockholders don't.

They can cure a patients virus once, or have the patient keep having to return for treatment or coming back to buy more medication. Do the math.

Because a virus is not technically a living organism. That's why antibiotics don't work on them. Usually, prevention is the only way to make sure someone is not infected with a virus. That's what vaccines are for. Once a person has a viral infection, they are stuck with it.
we can find cure for bacteria becuase the traces are known and since a virus can come from anywhere, the traces are not known. a virus spreads and is hard to control, a cold/cough is a bacteria thats why its controlable.

bacteria have a cell wall and antibiotics can kill the bacteria in a variety of ways; making it impossible for the bacteria to multiply or destroying the cell wall etc.. viruses on the other hand do not have a cell wall so they live in our cells kinda like a parasite. to kill a virus our cells would have to die and that isn't something we can live with. HIV is a good example. the person does not die from AIDS but by something else.
